Circular Economy
Ancillary to the main function of the Library, I would like to see Galway County Council develop a ‘Library of Things’ to further our national and regional commitments to developing a circular economy.
Within this Library of Things, I would like to see the Council build on the excellent work being carried out by volunteers within the Cloth Nappy Library network across Ireland and offer a Cloth Nappy Library across the County. This would massively reduce the cost of refuse bills for families and reduce waste going to landfill.
We need more free recycling drop off points for hard to recycle items. Long term, I would like to see Galway County Council develop a recycling and educational centre akin to the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun, to educate and facilitate the public on how to repair and repurpose common household goods.
